Description
9-14 July 2009 (6-day class) in Cairns/Australia
Watsu (WATer shiatSU) is literally Shiatsu performed on clients who float in warm water. The practitioner carefully supports the client and applies gentle stretching and shiatsu-like massage techniques.
Watsu 1 covers the principles of working in water and the first full Watsu sequence. The sequence establishes a foundation for expansion in later classes. It provides a structure for deepening awareness, accuracy and an expansion of our repertoire of moves. Its Tai Chi-like moves, encourage strong grounding, centering, a connection to breath a letting go of effort and a surrender to the water. In our continual return to the ‘Water Breath Dance’, we find the stillness that supports presence. Basic moves are integrated into long, graceful, flowing transitions, which build trust and a sense of timeless continuity.
On land we take time to explore issues around touch, physical empathy/intimacy, listening and sensing, boundaries and ethics, as well as our own body use and alignment. This class is an opportunity to explore the joy and subtleties of this work, over 6 full days of land and water. Prerequisite: None required, although some form of introductory water class is recommended.
The tuition for this course 5-day (50-hours) courses is A$ 1300
Auditors repeat this course for A$ 720
