WaterDance I is an initiation. Participants discover and develop a personal relation to the underwater experience. This occurs in the process of giving and receiving, of learning to offer this experience safely and sensitively to their coursemates. The only pre-requisite is familiarity with supporting receivers on the surface, as is gained from practicing the skills learned in Watsu I, Aquatherics, Introduction to Healing Dance, or Jahara Basics. WaterDance I covers the essentials of reading the breath, signaling, using the noseclip, and submerging and surfacing smoothly. Included is a surface warm-up sequence to stretch the trunk, allowing the respiratory muscles to function with ease. The body mechanics necessary to transmit large and free underwater movements are thoroughly trained. The heart of the course is a repertoire of classic dives that are suited to both first-time and experienced receivers. WaterDance is extremely satisfying to practice on account of the deep trust between giver and receiver. It is a technique with ample opportunity for creativity and play.

Alexander George

wata10Alexander came to the holistic arts following a 25 year career as a ballet and modern dancer, teacher and choreographer. In 1980 he began the study of holistic massage at the International School of Professional Bodywork in San Diego, completing the 1000 Hour Massage Therapist Training in 1983. He went on to become qualified as a Trager Practitioner in 1986, subsequently studying with Milton Trager himself. In 1989 he became a Watsu Practitioner at Harbin Hot Springs in northern California under the tutelage of Harold Dull, the originator of Watsu. In 1993 he studied WaterDance from one of its founders, Arjana Brunschwiler. He developed the techniques of the Healing Dance in water and Flowing Touch Massage on land, also innovating an advanced level to WaterDance. Alexander is a certified instructor of the Worldwide Aquatic Bodywork Association, and for nine years taught at the School of Shiatsu and Massage at Harbin Hot Springs. Since 1996 Alexander has led over 170 week long 50 hour intensives in Anatomy, Massage, Barefoot Shiatsu, Watsu, Healing Dance and WaterDance. Alexander presently leads trainings each year in the US, Germany, Israel and Brasil, teaching in German or Portuguese as required. 3/31/2007 ... A great water therapy. Loved the course. Want to take more.
The waterdance 1 course that I took with Alexander was excellent. The course took me deeper into the benefits of water therapy and my love of the work. It also gave me a renewed energy for "teaching" in other areas, since Alexander is such a well rounded teacher himself. Thankyou for a wonderful course. I look forward to learning and giving Healing Dance.
continuar me aprofundando nesse trabalho subaquático.
4/17/2005 ... Wunderful! beautiful open the heart to self to life to others
4/24/2005 ... I believe the student should have some water expiriance before.
I believe he is luky to be with Alexander as teacher and his Israeli Assitents team.
The submerging is a total new stage in healing and in awearness that in my believe can help people in many ways.
10/21/2004 ... Alexander's teaching style is exceptional. He has the patience of Job in dealing with slow students. His class preparation as demonstrated in the class handout was the MOST polished and concise and complete of ANY Water class I've so far experienced. Great sense of humor as well!
to teacher: Both the instructor and the organizer were very well prepared. Delightful course.
10/19/2004 ... I would recommend to students to take this class.
I also want to say that the instructor was great and I had a good time taking the class with Alexander.
10/24/2004 ... This was a fabulous class. The teaching was excellent, A lot of personal feedback, and attention to detail. You really get a chance to learn the material well. I liked the style of teaching, and the course content.
The location was incredible, couldn't ask for a more beautiful pool and accomodations.
8/20/2004 ... waterdance for me is a selebration of water energy & joy.
in giving waterdance one feels like in addition to the therapists' energy one scoops the wonderfull energy of the water - whether its heeling energy or happy vibes or the openning up feeling the water gives oneself. in receving waterdance, as one dose in these courses something moves inside. there is something very unique in beeng underwater, some greater silence, a feeling of endlessness and i guess there is something more in trusting your therapist to know when you need to come up and feeling safe instead of feering the water.
I noticed the use of the word "something" and i guess this is one more indication that both as a giver and as reciever - the experiance is unique .
