Humans have been drawn to water since our creation.
Ancient cultures communed where water flowed, believing certain waters were sacred and capable of offering profound healing. Water was, and is still used for ceremony, rituals and celebrations.
Our initial physical experience is of floating....nine blissful months of absolute space, being cradled and nurtured in embryonic fluid. In this uncertain world people seek out experiences that duplicate that original sense of nurturing space where they feel safe and at peace. For many of us water fulfills this longing. In this section you will find information about techniques (and it's originators) employed around the world. These are some of the masters of the water work and they are our ancestors of aquatic therapy culture. Each one of them have made profound contributions to the development of aquatic therapy as it's known today. While this section doesn't list every modality ever created it includes the major of forms being used today.
Here at the Aquatic Bodywork site we appreciate and honor every modality and creator and we encourage you to experience these masters and the unique gifts each form provides.
